Consulting Firms Sees Squeeze in Consumer Electronics

If it isn’t bad enough for companies competing against Apple and Samsung Electronics, consulting firm AlixPartners says it is about to get worse.

In the handset market, competitive pressure from Apple and Samsung has put the squeeze on competitors like BlackBerry, Nokia and HTC. Now AlixPartners says the same fate could hit publicly traded makers of TVs, headsets, video games and other gadgets.

The consulting firm estimates in a new report that companies responsible for two-thirds of the revenue generated by consumer electronics makers could end up in distress, if they aren’t already.
